From Nana Rao Park to Bithoor: A Weekend Getaway in Kanpur Darshan

Pool A – Mitushi Katiyar / Class 7

Kanpur Darshan is a wonderful initiative taken by our school, Sir Padampat Singhania Education Centre. We are getting an opportunity to visit places in the city of religious and historical significance. From Nana Rao Park to Bithoor parents as well as students are being taken to view beauties such as Nana Rao Park, which is the biggest park of Kanpur. It has statues of Rani Laxmi Bai , Lala Lajpat Rai , Tatya Tope and Ajizan Bai. Not only this , it is made with  recycled tires and other plastic items too it has a lot of greenery and a really old banyan tree too. Sarsaiya Ghat is another heritage that is located on the banks of river Ganges it  is a calm and peaceful ghat .Atal Behari Vajpayee has composed many of his verses while pursuing his studies over there and Sati Chauraha Ghat also known as Massacre Ghat has a very important historical significance in Kanpur. Around 300 women, men and children were slaughtered here. Many other beautiful places  in Kanpur are also being shown to us. We feel now that we know nothing about our city’s significance in history.
