ART - CRAFT & SCULPTURE LAB

SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA EDUCATION CENTRE

ART - CRAFT & SCULPTURE LAB

“I try to apply colors like words that shape poems, like notes that shape music.” – Joan Miro

Art and craft are two forms of creativity that are commonly juxtaposed by the people, as they don’t see any difference in them. Art is a creative merit that comes from within. Craft is skilled work, wherein there is an application of technique, that people learn through much practice. Art emerges from the heart, whereas craft comes from the mind. Sculpture is the branch of the visual arts that operates in three dimensions. Sculpture is the three-dimensional art work which is physically presented in the dimensions of height, width and depth. It is one of the plastic arts. The materials used in sculpture are diverse, changing throughout history. The designs may be embodied in freestanding objects, in reliefs on surfaces, or in environments ranging from tableaux to contexts that envelop the spectator. An enormous variety of media may be used, including clay, wax, stone, metal, fabric, glass, wood, plaster, rubber, and random “found” objects. Materials may be carved, modeled, molded, cast, wrought, welded, sewn, assembled, or otherwise shaped and combined. Art and Craft Lab aims to ignite the creative spark of the students. It will not only help them learn new art forms but will also let them realise their full potential under the able guidance of professional painters, sculptors and graphic artists. This lab is a place which aims at nurturing and highlighting the latent talents of the students.
