Traditionally, for students my age, summer vacation is viewed as a welcome break from academic routines, a time to relax, watch television and unwind. But how about converting this holiday into a journey of life? Rather than considering them as an interruption to our education, we can take this time as a chance to grow ourselves.
Education is not confined to school premises only. It offers invaluable opportunities to learn practical skills and gain insights that extend far beyond the pages of our textbooks. Whether it is learning a new language, developing coding skills or participating in community service, each experience helps us cultivate essential life skills that can’t be acquired through classroom learning alone.
Moreover, an intentional summer allows us to learn more about ourselves. Through going outside our comfort zones and indulging in different activities, we get to learn more about ourselves, our strengths, weaknesses and what we love. We must do this before we pursue higher secondary education and our career paths.
Ultimately, turning summer vacation into a journey of growth ensures we return to school not just rested, but wiser.
